When possible its always fun to just
jump onto Ariel and take off into the horizon! A few weeks ago I sailed up to Oceanport, NJ.. Now for a power boat having enough fuel and checking the weather and ocean conditions are your main concerns as well as figuring a place to pull into if that need arises along with checking the bridge opening schedules if your power boat is that high or bridge that low. Now for the sailboat all the above is a good start plus you need to check the tides! Going with the tides can increase your boat speed and save hours on a trip. Also the tides with the currents they create can make for hazardous conditions. Basically the currents can get so strong that it can make a sailboat go backwards or hardly move at all. Meanwhile a strong tide can make small waves get much larger at many inlets. Barnegat is one of those inlets. So why fight the tides! The picture of the bridge on the left is that of a new Sea Bright bridge being constructed next to the older bridge connecting Rumson and Sea Bright NJ over the Shrewsbury rive.
Beautiful and awe inspiring all at the same time. The picture on the right..if you look closely you will see three dolphin. Now for the most part seeing dolphins here and there is pretty common. However this was unique and although I tried to capture it whenever you try to take a picture of the dolphins they disappear under the water. But what really gets me the most is when they disappear and swim under the boat they appear to be smiling at you as they go under knowing that they outsmarted you trying to take their picture!
Meanwhile what was so unique when I took this dolphin picture was that there was literally 40 or 50 dolphin jumping and swimming in this large pod . I thought seeing them that I was at some far away island destination! Of course when I tried to take their picture…yup you guessed it they disappear. Im guessing those three just didn’t see me in time!!! By the way this picture was taken just off the tip of Sandy Hook NJ.
Get out and enjoy the adventure! For me that’s sailing, surfing and snowboarding! Come out and enjoy one of life’s most fun adventure… SAILING!!! Reserve your charter now!
